I don't think so!!!

I have just been over to Sleepless Nights giggling away as I generally do when I read anything Veronica has written.. I wonder where she got that sense of humour from hmmm??? Anyway Veronica was writing about routine and predictability and stuff assosciated with living with a tyrant umm I mean a toddler.

one comment was:-"Yep,the routine is inevitable..and how we will wish for it when they are all grown up!

What???? No way Lady! I certainly don't... No! No! No!

I don't miss having toddlers at all..I don't miss the sleepless nights or the nappies. I don't miss the massive amounts of washing or trying to shake a toddler off my leg so I can go to the toilet alone..I don't miss the fear when they are ill. You know that overwhelming feeling of impending doom at 3 am when you have a small child who is ill.. Nope I certainly don't miss that one at all.. I don't miss the isolation of being the only breastfeeding mother trying to live an alternative lifestyle in a small very conservative rural community. I don't miss the overwhelming loneliness I felt at all.. Not one bit...

I had started to write how I felt in Veronica's comments when I thought that I would write about it here instead..

I love being a grandmother. It is heaps more fun than being the mother..

cheers kim

You know, I have talked to so man people lately that admit to liking being a grandmother better than a mother and I confess I am looking forward to being done...knowing that I raised them safely. The burden of wondering if I'm doing things right, what are they going to be like, that kind of stuff can be torture. My mom told me how wonderful it is to enjoy them and talk to them and know them but not bear the responsibility for their upbringing. Cool, thought-provoking post.

I'm with you. No WAY lady!

I love my kids, but when they started to gain some independence I relished it. I have g/f's who are now having more kids, like when their first batch of spawn are approaching adolescence, and I'll be buggered if I'll go back to toddlerhood again. all the not sleeping and stuff carting and nappy changing and bath supervising and...... ugh!

My baby is sleeping between us with his little butt up in the air. I'll miss this moment.

The moment where I discovered he shat all over my carpet? Not so much.

hrh: Luckily when I felt like thatI was able to give mine to their Nanny for the day..

Sniz: I think it is just the Joy assosciated with being the Nanny.. It is all the fun stuff without the 24/7 responsibility..

Bettina: I am with you.. I have gotten selfish. and I am starting to plan to do stuff just for me...

Dawn: I know exactly what you mean.I watch Veronica breastfeeding and I still miss that closeness.

I am really enjoying my life at the moment.. I get all the joy and fun that a toddler brings... and then Amy goes home.. and I clean up the toys ONCE.. Woot..

Being a grandma rocks. I've loved every minute so far.The best part, like you said to Snizz, all the fun without the 24/7 responsibility. When they've all gone home and my house is all mine again? I love that.

Picking up the toys once would rock. So would the lack of food smudged into the carpet.

I loved my boys when they were babies. It was an experience not to be missed. But I'm glad they're grown. And when the grandbabies come, it will be nice to have them in the house - and nicer still to send them home with their parents.

I have loved every second...that is a complete lie...every year of my kids' lives, but the joys of mothering a toddler I am not so sad to have left behind...

And Kim...the spot has been filled, and I would like you to stop by when you have a mo. Thanks!

LOL - I know I will miss it -thats why I came back for more.
A friend of mine is 24yrs with a 15 month old and she has 20 month old brother.
A lady at our church fell pregnant @ 45 - very big shock. She has 17 & 19 yrs old - the little boy was born last week.
Good on you for sticking at BFing years ago - we can see where Veronica gets both her humour and stamina from. She obviously get you busy too.
I thought Tassie had lots of alternative people that would have been into BF.
